This is one of my most challenging clients (see photo of her previous backrest). She has a very strong ATNR and a dramatic scoliosis and a substantial rib rotation. She has little to no functional movement with severe spasticity and deformities.
Young woman with CP and marked spinal and pelvic deformities impacting on ability to sit safely in a wheelchair and reduced oral intake due to poor positioning.
This client is very difficult to sit due to the absence of her right hip bone (half her pelvis is absent). Left hip sits hard against side of wheelchair, and she has lost a lot of weight.
Was in an Invacare personal back (and had too much room to move). Ribcage was going against right of backrest.
