JACO can reach anything up to 90cm allowing you to pick up objects off the floor or open a door.

Controller:
JACO can be controlled by any existing wheelchair controller.

Continuous Revolutions:
JACO won't tie itself in knots!

Purpose:

JACO is a six-axis robotic manipulator arm with a three-fingered hand. It can be used by multiple controls. This marvel of engineering significantly improves the lives of persons with reduced mobility. JACO assists persons with upper extremity disabilities to perform complex actions.

Many everyday activities, such as picking up glasses, holding a fork or opening a door, which most people do without thinking, can become insurmountable for people who have a disability having to ask someone else to do it for them. The JACO arm makes life easier for these people by giving them greater freedom and independence.

For Whom?

JACO is for persons with upper-extremity impairments. These persons have little or no hand functions. They are often in a power wheelchair and the JACO is mounted sideways to follow them everywhere they go.

Users are often persons with advanced muscular disabilities such as muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, and sometimes neurological disorders. To benefit of all JACO’s functions, a reasonable level of  understanding and sufficient visual capacity should be present.

Use:

Operating a personal robot is not always easy, that’s what sets the JACO apart, as JACO has been created to be user friendly and very intuitive. JACO has evolved from years of experiences and developed with a universal adaptation to give more control possibilities to users.

The JACO is controlled by any existing wheelchair controller that is being used by the user, this could be a standard joystick, chin control or even a head array. The JACO simply connects to the ECU of the power chair control system.

The user can completely focus on the movements of the gripper itself. JACO is lightweight and easy to transport. JACO can be mounted on the side of the wheelchair and can be used in various environments and multiple situations.

Characteristics:

•  Lighter and stronger than any other rehabilitation robot.
•  Easy to use: very intuitive, multiple controls available, installs to any power wheelchair.
•  Unique robotized hand with three fingers that provides better grip (Opening of 12 cm)
•  Repeating movements can be stored.
•  Adjustable to the user's need (programmable software).
•  Low weight (5 kg) makes it easy to remove it from the wheelchair.
•  The rigid and safe mounting on the wheelchair doesn’t modify the wheelchair capacities,
•  Its compact structure doesn’t extent the width of the wheelchair: doorways will not be difficult.
•  Very low energy consumption (less than 5%).
•  Many safety features.
•  Various operating modes: individual adaptations are possible.
